Well, hello there!

If you haven't been here before, allow me to properly introduce myself. My name is Sara Duckett. I am 35 years old and one of five girls in my family. I am happily married to a handsome, slightly older man named Josh. We live in Orange County, California with our pup Hannah and two kitties, Mason and Annabelle. We just recently were blessed with an unbelievably adorable baby boy, Finn, who we privately adopted earlier this year. He is the light of our lives, and is absolutley adored around here.

About four years ago, I decided to start an online shop, selling home decor and accessories. At the time Josh and I had been struggling with years of infertility and I needed a positive distraction. I am shopoholic, and thought nothing could be as fun as helping others shop just as much as I do! And so Sadie Olive was born. (Sadie Olive being the name Josh and I had once picked out for a future daughter).

Soon after I started the online shop, I started dabbling in web design. Sadie Olive Design allowed me to keep up with the boutique while helping others start their own online businesses. It provides an additional creative outlet for me and connects me with so many wonderful people.

This site has opened the door to many opportunities I would not have known otherwise; including the honor of being featured in a few magazines. Our home was featured in the March 2008 issue of Romantic Homes Magazine, the Fall 2008 issue of Budget Decorating (A Woman's Day Special Publication), and the Fall 2008 issue of Dovetales (A Boston magazine). My design business has also been featured in Artful Blogging Magazine, the Fall 2008 issue.

Photography is another passion of mine, although it probably gets the least amount of my attention. I truly believe that if you follow your heart and live your passions, they will shine through for others to see. I hope that you find this blog, and my photos worth peeking in on every now and then.

When I was at the Farm Chicks show, I was able to spend a bit more time with my dear friend Jeanne. I had met her once before at the Parisian Soiree, but we didn’t get to talk much there, and we went our separate ways once the class was over. I could tell instantly when we first met. that she was someone I could really get along with. She has the same crass and sarcastic sense of humor I do, (although she’s much funnier!) and we didn’t take long at all to warm up to each other.

In Washington I couldn’t get enough of her snappy remarks and snide comments. She has this delivery that will make you laugh till your tummy hurts, complete with animated facial expressions that will make you pee your pants. :o) (Can you tell how much I love this girl?!?!?)

Anywho… she had the most gorgeous badge (that she made herself) at the farm chicks show. She pinned it on her fabulous carpet bag, and toted it around getting compliment after compliment. I was beside myself with jealousy. Not only about the crazy cute carpet bag, (which I won’t get into) but the badge itself. (Check out her bagde here on her blog.)

After hours of begging, and hint after not-so-subtle hint, she agreed to make me one. It arrived in the mail today, and I just about passed out with excitement. Just look at this pretty little package:

details In case you were wondering… she made me the “muff” label as a joke… it’s an inside joke we have from the farm chicks show, and we call each other “muff” now. :o)

Isn’t it amazing? I just love it so much!!! Thank you Jeanne!!!! A million times over, I just love it!!

Jacqueline - I want Jeanne to be my friend !! What classy badges. I dont know if you remember but I tried to by some gorgeous things from you but we worked out that the postage would be too much to the U.K. I was so disappointed but it can’t be helped. I think it was because I wanted the wire pin board that put the postage up.I think I will have another look and choose lighter things!!

Sonja - What an exquisite child. I got goosebumps when I read your tale of the little fighter babe that wanted to see his folks early, but had obstacles. He knew he had to fight ’cause his family loves him so much. Your photos are gorgeous as always. (but, no offense, you could’ve snapped any old shot of that child and it would be lovely due to the subject!)
