I was feeling a little “in the mood” today to take and share some pictures of my home, so I grabbed the camera and started snapping.
Remember this post, “linen lover” and how I said I always wanted a lovely stack of vintage quilts? Well by golly, I now have one! I have been scoring big at the estate sales and these pretty ladies were $25 each. I couldn’t pass them up at that price, so I bought six! And that thing in the middle? It’s a very fun dress made from vintage linens that was calling out to me… she will be used in an upcoming photo shoot for sure!

In that very same post, I talked about wanting to make a rustic set of hooks for my kitchen towels and also in my bathroom for some necklaces. Well a very friendly blog reader named Melanie came to my rescue! She traded me a wire photo holder for a set of some recycled knobs and two pieces of chippy wood, which I then put together to look like this:

isn’t it so fun? I love the scalloped edge. The second set of hooks isn’t done yet (it’s on a very long to do list of mine).
Here are a a few more “new” purchases that have made their way into my decor.

(above) 1. The vintage frame behind my dress form is a piece I picked up the same day I got these: “junk in use“. I staple gunned a few strips of upholstery webbing to make a pretty little pin board for my office. 2. The silver candlestick needed a little sprucing up so I tied on some seam binding and a vintage earring to add some sparkle. The ironstone gravy boat behind holds some vintage silverware. In front of that are two dainty little butter pat dishes from England and a floral t.v. tray. (This is all on a shelf in my dining room). 3. This little set-up is nothing new, but I have started collecting a few neat vintage cameras to display around the house. I figure if it makes me happy, then it’s worth decorating with!

How did that get in there? :o) My sweet Hannah is certainly not “new” but she makes me smile, just look at that face! I had to bribe her to sit for this picture. But isn’t her paw cute next to the claw feet on this bureau? Love her!

I’ve been stocking my new “brocante” site just as fast as I can, but sometimes a few of my treasures are too hard to part with… like the two vintage books with amazing covers and gold gilt titles, or this transferware platter with a sweet little bird. And of course I had to throw in Jeanne‘s fabulous ribbon, which hasn’t stopped making me smile. :o)
That’s all the sharing for today folks! Hope you enjoyed the little tour of treasures. Wish me luck at the estate sales this week!
I had the pleasure of photographing miss Payden again this weekend to capture her seventh month in this world. She is the sweetest little thing with the happiest disposition, and it certainly made it fun to catch her laughing at her mommy at daddy while they “performed” to get her to smile for me.

Of course she had a friend along to help keep her company….

And we had a few wardrobe changes in between… including this “flower child” inspired little number…

Isn’t she a sweethart? It was such fun to play at the park with these three. Thanks Adam and Dee!
So I know I am a little biased, but is this not the cutest baby in the world? Meet my nephew Ryder York….

Isn’t he sweet? This little fella gave us all quite a scare with a four week early delivery, and then somehow managing to get the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck during birth. He was rushed away (without a first breath) and taken to the NICU. But he is quite a fighter. He made it, and although he is a little jaundiced, he is getting stronger each day and was finally able to come home with mom and dad.

I was happy to use my “new” vintage suitcases as props for tonights shoot. I just love how they came out. I put his daddy’s shirts inside to add some cushion for his sweet little tush.
And I’m always a fan of naked babies in beanies. :o)
Ryder wasn’t thrilled about being naked for all these pictures, but I think we managed to keep him happy for most of them. These last two he is in his daddy’s arms. (I think he might also be threathening me with his fist, as he had had enough of my camera and these were the last shots of the day).
I’m such a proud auntie. He’s a handsome baby and he is a little talker. He coos and makes sweet little noises when you talk to him and while he’s sleeping. Just seeing these images, my cup runneth over.
When I was at the Farm Chicks show, I was able to spend a bit more time with my dear friend Jeanne. I had met her once before at the Parisian Soiree, but we didn’t get to talk much there, and we went our separate ways once the class was over. I could tell instantly when we first met. that she was someone I could really get along with. She has the same crass and sarcastic sense of humor I do, (although she’s much funnier!) and we didn’t take long at all to warm up to each other.
In Washington I couldn’t get enough of her snappy remarks and snide comments. She has this delivery that will make you laugh till your tummy hurts, complete with animated facial expressions that will make you pee your pants. :o) (Can you tell how much I love this girl?!?!?)
Anywho… she had the most gorgeous badge (that she made herself) at the farm chicks show. She pinned it on her fabulous carpet bag, and toted it around getting compliment after compliment. I was beside myself with jealousy. Not only about the crazy cute carpet bag, (which I won’t get into) but the badge itself. (Check out her bagde here on her blog.)
After hours of begging, and hint after not-so-subtle hint, she agreed to make me one. It arrived in the mail today, and I just about passed out with excitement. Just look at this pretty little package:
Jeanne is the BEST at little details. She is so creative and has an eye for everything lovely. I adore her style. Just look at these details:
In case you were wondering… she made me the “muff” label as a joke… it’s an inside joke we have from the farm chicks show, and we call each other “muff” now. :o)
And the ribbon itself:
I was even able to use the pretty packaging details on some vintage books I have sitting on my desk.

Isn’t it amazing? I just love it so much!!! Thank you Jeanne!!!! A million times over, I just love it!!
For those of you who now covet this badge as much as I do… you’re in luck!!!! Jeanne is going to sell them soon in her super cute etsy shop! Go, go, go to a bushel and a peck now to get yours (or at least get on the waiting list!).
Thank you sweet Jeanne! Your “thank you” gift will be arriving soon!
