a mothers love

This is Stephanie. She’s got that “happy mommy” glow about her, that makes a photographer feel inspired. We spent a few hours at the park and captured these fun images:

Can you believe how lucky I am to keep getting these beautiful clients? It’s hard to take a bad picture of any of them! Stephanie is due in July and will be calling me to take pictures of her little one when he/or she arrives! I can’t wait to share!

meet peyton

Remember this gorgeous couple? (Click here) Well they had a baby girl, and Peyton arrived early. She is a tiny little thing, and so much fun to be around. I was very excited to get to take her pictures within only a few weeks of her birth. Here are some of my favorites:

How sweet is she?!?!!? My job is such fun! Even though it looks like it, she didn’t sleep much when I was there, and she wasn’t really sure about my giant camera in her face, so she wasn’t having most of it. (I don’t think she cared for all my hats either!) :o) But I am hoping to do another session soon so I can get more of her interacting with mom and dad. I’ll be sharing those too, I’m sure!

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

junk in use

So with all the junk (read “treasures”) I have been purchasing lately, I am feeling particularly attached to some of it. I can’t bring my self to “share” (read “sell”) some of the things I still want to find room for. Josh on the other hand keeps threatening to have his own “estate sale” next time I leave town. (Not gonna happen!!!).

These frames were a recent find that I purchased from an artist who had stacks of them in her garage. (That’s gonna be me soon). I really like the colors, the imperfections, the grunge, and the rough edges. I decided that they might be perfect above my bed in the master bed room (which also has the old brushes on the wall from the previous post).

I hung them the other night and dangled a few of the rosaries I have purchased lately and two more of the brushes I had picked up (to tie in the other wall).

I can’t decide if I like it yet or not. I love the frames themselves, and the vignette as a whole, but I am not sure I like the new direction my bedroom is taking. Something about it says “Junk Gypsies” to me and I think cowgirl, when I think of the junk gypsies. (My Dad’s side of the family are all from Texas, but I am FAR from a cowgirl, and horses don’t like me).

What do you all think? I need some advice….

new happenings

I have been a busy little bee these last two weeks. I have been creating two new sites, one for my art & one for treasures. The first of them I named “Warm Whispers” (after the song you hear playing on my blog now, which is by Missy Higgins.) I plan to offer fine art photography prints on etsy for those of you who have inquired about purchasing from me. I am excited to have this new little site to be creative with. I have a few prints available now, and I have quite a few more in the works. Please check out Warm Whispers, and let me know what you think! I’d love to hear which of my prints, you might want to see there.

The second site is just for this new treasure hunting addition I have. :o) I am finding so many treasures that I don’t even have the storage room for most of them! (Josh is lecturing me as I type this!) So I decided to start “Sadie Olive Brocante” to help me unload some of the finds I have been hording. I am having so much fun scouting out things for the site that I think my customers will enjoy. Please take a gander when you have some free time. And remember to check back regularly as I add the rest of the goodies to the site that are currently taking over my living and dining rooms! I hope to add products to this site pretty regularly, so you may want to bookmark it now!   Sadie Olive Brocante

Have a good weekend my friends! And happy father’s day! I have a newborn shoot tomorrow that I hope to share soon, and have another maternity session to share as well. I hope your weekends are relaxing and fun!

inspired by

I mentioned in my last post that I was starting to collect old brushes. I was inspired by the article in Romantic Homes by Elizabeth Maxon where she shared images of her kitchen redo. Well, I was finally able to find a spot for mine, and I really enjoy how they came out.

Take a peek at my new “vignette”….

They hang in my bedroom just above the old shoe rack that holds some of my vintage treasures.

2I kept the tags on them, because I thought they looked so cute that way. And I even added a tag or two when I was missing one. I can’t take credit for how pretty the tags are, as the Barn House boys did most of it! Some are tea stained gray tags with their logo, and some are old French vocabulary cards.  Aren’t they so fun?

I would show you more of my bedroom, but someone forgot to make her bed this morning… and pick up her clothes, remove the cat hair from the bed spread, and maybe dust a little (can you see the dust in the cloche photo!!!) Shh… don’t tell anyone.
