Grandparents

I’ve talked about my maternal Grandparents a few times before on this blog. They are both gone now, and I miss them so much. I regret everyday not spending enough time with them while they were alive. I had never seen photos of them when they were young, or even of my Mom as a child. But yesterday my Aunt Sheri sent over a ton of old family photos from their albums and I got to see, for the first time, just how beautiful they both were. I wanted to share some of the pictures with all of you.

Here they are on their wedding day.

This one has got to be my favorite. My mom (Chris) was born in July 1951, so this must have been in September of 1951.

And this one is from Feb 1967. Will you look at the size of those clams they found! I think that is my Uncle Robert with them.

I miss them both a ton, but these pictures sure help to make me feel close to them again. Thank you Sheri for sending them!

It’s funny, today is actually my paternal Grandmother’s birthday, with whom we celebrated this last weekend. I don’t have any photos of her when she was young, nor have I seen any, but here is a more recent one I found of her. I’m going to have to ask to see photos of her when she was younger next time I see her.

Happy birthday Grandma, I love you.

Glenda ~ manyfondmemories - I love the old photo’s of any family. There is something about them. It’s like time stood still. Those times were so much easier then what we have now. I mean the simple things meant so much.

Thank you for sharing these . I have an old picture of my family on my site from 1956.

They have lived a long rich life and have so many stories to share with us.

I cloth diaper my son and it certainly isn’t as hard as it must have been back then! I’d be mortified if I had to hang my son’s business out for all my neighbors to see! LOL. Your post made me smile and I added you to my list of Blogs I Love on my own blog. http://mandybbags.blogspot.com

stacey - I love looking back at family photos. At one point I had my Grandmothers wedding album at my house and my husband and his friend took a look at it, and the comment that stood out the most was “she was a looker”. The women back then seemed to be so glamourous looking in whatever they were doing, even hanging laundry!!

julia - Hi Sara,
what a treasure these photographs are. You are so fortunate to have them. I agree that the one of your Grandmother hanging the laundry to dry is classic, that image evokes a feeling of comfort to me as I did the same with my Granmother, hanging laundry on the clothsline. I might have to hang some of my sheets out in the sunshine today in her honor!
blessings,

bari - Sara,
Those photos are magnificent. I’m sure you wil treasure them forever! Now you’ve got me wondering where my mother has put all the photos of my grandparents. My grandfather was a Chicago furrier and they used to get all “dolled up” as he would say. I miss them dearly. I totally know how you feel.
XO,
Bari
