A little of this… and a little of that…

I was given the "you make me smile" award this last week by three of my blogging friends, Debbie, Carol, and Teresa. And was also tagged by Shabby Miss Jenn to list seven random things. And I am ashamed to say I was tagged quite awhile ago by Jennifer for the middle name game and I am just getting around to posting about it.

So, here goes: 10 bloggers that make me smile, in addition to the lovely folks who tagged me… are: Deb, Tara, Liddy, Heather, Shabby Miss Jenn , Sherry, Cathy, Gypsy Purple, Rosemary, and Linda.  (There are many more, but that would make for a very long post….

Seven random things: 1. Since I stopped working an office job (and stopped eating fast food for lunch and breakfast everyday), I have lost 10 pounds. Yeah me! 2. I am leaving tomorrow morning for a bachelorette party weekend for my youngest sister, Morgan. 3. I cried yesterday because I was so happy, but I can’t tell you why yet… will post about it soon enough…. (no, it’s not a baby) 4. I am a list maker, I have 6 lists in front of me all with unfinished items on them. 5. I have been so busy with things to do I can’t sleep at night with all my "to do’s" running through my head. 6. My middle name is Christine and I’m afraid I am to tired from lack of sleep to list something for each letter. 7. My 3rd wedding anniversary is on Tuesday.

Whew! Thanks for letting me get all that out. And because I don’t like posts without pictures, I leave you with a few pictures I took of my favorite shop near me, "Blessings".

Lovely isn’t it?

Following passions

Hi everyone! I am so sorry to have been away for so long. I have had hectic schedule these last two weeks and have had a bit of trouble finding time for the blog. But I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of "house love" of my last post! Thank you, thank you!

My sister Morgan had a birthday, my niece Kiki had a birthday, and I myself had a birthday all in the last few weeks. We have been celebrating like crazy around here. :) I turned 31 this year. Not really sure how I feel about it, but since hubby is still older than me, I guess I am still his "younger" wife.  We kept things pretty simple for the 31st birthday and just had family over for a barbecue. (My kind of party, since I am a homebody). My mother-in-law brought me these beautiful roses from her garden…..

Birthday

I love having flowers in the house, they make everything seem more cheerful. I don’t know why I never buy any for myself…  My mom bought me these pretty shabby corbels from Pottery Barn that I have been eying for a month or two…

I haven’t found the perfect spot for them yet, but I am thinking I may add them to our new front porch… even though Pottery Barn calls them "bookends".

I’m not sure how many of you have noticed, but I started doing some design work. After two long months of unsuccessful and hopeless job searching, I am stopping the search, and trying my hand at pursuing some dreams…  I absolutely LOVE being home and working on the on line shop, and now to supplement that, I have started this additional venture. I truly LOVE doing it. I have been working a minimum of ten hour days and I am not even close to being burnt out! It is so exciting to wake up in the morning and work on something you love to do. And even better is having people sing praises about your work. I am so excited about this new journey and hope each and every one of you get to do something in your life that makes you this happy!

House proud…

Do you ever have one of those days where you feel particularly proud of your house? Maybe you just redecorated, or got a new piece, or someone you admire style-wise paid you a compliment on your style, etc. Well today is one of those days for me.

I don’t know if it’s all of you sweet bloggers boosting my ego with your compliments, or my new buffet piece I bought this weekend, but I was feeling "house proud" today, and took a few photos to share with you…

This is my new buffet. I bought it this weekend at the flea market. It was a grueling fifteen to twenty minute debate with the hubby about whether or not we would be buying it, but I won (teehehe). (I only won after agreeing to allow it to be my birthday present). But I think it was worth it. I just love the color and it matches our other hutch in the front room perfectly. Here is her close-up:

And this last one shows a different view….

It’s the first piece you see when you enter our home (across from the front door) so it has to be special. The piece I had there before is now in my office.

I think it looks great in this new spot. And it provides some much needed storage for my office which is getting more and more cluttered.  It is a pottery barn piece and the black matches the other pieces I have in the office from pottery barn perfectly, so I think it was meant to be.

This is just a close up of some of the goodies I like to hoard. Can you see the peat pot babies I bought from Lauren? I LOVE them.

This last one is just a random shot of my office shelves. I just got the sad faces on the sticks this last week when I was shopping with my Mom in the Orange Circle. I think they are so funny. The back says "grump on a stick". We both had to have one!

Thanks for letting me share my photos with you!
