Today is our three year wedding anniversary. Josh and I were married on October 16th in 2004 in Los Olivos, CA. It was one of the best days of my life and despite the rain that made me come to tears that day, it was as beautiful as I hoped it to be.
Josh and I chose Firestone Winery as our location. It offered both what Josh and I wanted in a venue, wine and the wine country surroundings to make Josh happy, and the rustic barn that I had always dreamed of being married in. I chose October because it has always been my favorite month and time of year. Fall always makes me feel happy and I love the colors, smells, and weather it brings.
My colors were pink, brown, rust, and cream. The bridesmaids dresses were pink with a brown sash and my dress was ivory. I asked the florist to drape the barn in fabric which was probably the most dramatic effect, as it blew it the wind and created just the perfect mood.
Here are some of the smaller details of the day…
I had to include ducks since I was becoming a "Duckett", so I found these cute little squeaking rubber ducks and tied on a note that said "Quack to see the Ducketts Kiss". We also had our guests sign a wine bottle instead of a traditional guest book, so we could keep it on display in our home. The place cards were held in place by wine corks we tied with raffia and the candles were wrapped in moss.
Luckily we got most of our pictures finished just before the downpour began….
All in all, the rain made it so much better than I had ever hoped for. All the guests were forced to stay under the barn due to the rain and it kept everyone close and together. And I am told that rain on your wedding day is supposed to be good luck.
Thanks for walking down memory lane with me and letting me share my photos.
P.S. No, I am NOT pregnant… I had to giggle because I know the photos in the last post make me look that way, but I just like shirts that aren’t clingy! So what if they look like maternity shirts…lol… I will share my happy news in the next few weeks.
