Fair

We took Finn to the Orange County Fair last Friday. We thought he would love it, but he had a mini meltdown in the first twenty minutes or so. After we were able to escape the crowd and eat some dinner, he seemed fine, so we walked the fair and ate some of that yummy greasy food, and Finn started to enjoy himself a bit.

We even managed to take a few pictures in the Photo Booth, which I was pretty happy about. :)

My sister Morgan, and her husband Mike were there too, and helped Finn feel at ease.

I think Josh was in heaven. He loves the fair and the beer, pickles, and fried delicious-ness. I mean I NEVER get smiles like this from him on camera. ;)

Finn is now officially walking everywhere. He will crawl when he wants to get somewhere in a hurry, but he picks himself up and walks all over the place. It’s been so fun to watch him gain the confidence he needed to make that step. It was like two days ago a light went on, and he realized that he could get places by walking.

I’m loving it so far, but we were somewhat surprised at how tall he is now and we’ve discovered table-tops and counter tops are no longer out of Finns reach. Yikes!

Response to our e-course has been amazing and Tracey, Jeanne, Kim, Jen and I are already hard at work recording videos, planning projects and sharing our very best ideas and decor tricks. So, thank you!

If you haven’t already signed up, there is still plenty of time, as class starts in October. The early registration rate is ending soon, however, so if you want to save a few bucks, act now!

What awesome pictures Sara!! I still remember when we first took our boys to the OC fair, my youngest wasn’t really sure about it either.
Congrats on Finn walking, how exciting!! Pretty soon he’ll be running everywhere and you’ll be chasing after him and then they never stop. :)
Hope you have a great afternoon.
Sincerely,
Melinda

Hi Sara,
I wanted to pop over and say thanks for allowing Melinda at Alabaster Rose to have a giveaway for your new e-course. I was one of the lucky winners and am thrilled. Really looking forward to it!

Creatively Made Home

I am so excited to share with you our brand new e-course!

Four of my wonderfully talented friends and I are teaching an online course all about our homes, and how we decorate, entertain and live a life that reflects our hearts. It’s going to be a intimate glimpse into each of our homes and lives that you are just not able to get through pictures or a blog post. All five of us are recording videos of our homes, our decorating style, and even a few projects that you are sure to enjoy and take something away from.

Here is more on this amazing five week course…

Creatively Made Home is a five week online course that will be hosted by:

Tracey Leber

myself… Sara Duckett

Kimberly Taylor

Jennifer Rizzo

Jeanne Oliver

We wanted to create a course that celebrated what really matters in your home…..you and your family. Celebrating what makes life beautiful in the everyday. Life is not about having the perfect home with the most expensive furniture and accessories. It’s about loving what you put into it, and making sure your home reflects your personality and passions.

Since becoming a mom last year, my home has changed and so have many of my priorities. Spills happen, white sofas have dog hair on them more days than not, and “kid clutter” is everywhere! We all live differently, and much of what you see on my blog and in my photos is so NOT real life around here. Many of you have lovely homes already and many of you are longing to make changes to “beautify” your homes in large or small ways. We hope this course will inspire you to get started, inspire you with new ideas, and overall just show you how our own homes became what they are today – a reflection of our hearts and families.

Our desire is that this five week online course will change how you see yourself, your home and your family.

* Each week you will have amazing truthful videos from not only the five teachers but other creative women.

* Each week we will take a room from one of YOU and all five women will give their suggestions telling you how they would transform the room with their style.

* There will be 50+ project videos. (These will be incredible videos that include everything from gardening, cooking, gift giving and decorating.)

* There will be written tips from each woman telling you how she starts a room, picks paint, fabrics, etc.  You will learn where to start when putting your own home together.

* Tons of beautiful and inspiring house photos from each of the five women.

* Videos that truly reflect what life is like in each of their homes.

* Each woman will share their own truthful journey about how they started making their home a reflection of their hearts.

* Each person registered will get an easy entertaining e-book to download. It will contain go to recipes for beautiful and easy entertaining (they do go together), photos of table settings that take the stress out of having people over, favorite drinks and so much more (and their funniest entertaining story).

* There will be a private Facebook group to connect with other class members.

* There will be a once a week live discussion with one of the teachers!

* You will get printables and pdfs to keep and use again and again.

This course is about loving your home, loving your family and blessing those around you….and having fun doing it.

If you have taken any of the courses that Jeanne Oliver has taught you know how much she puts into them.

This course will lavish you with ideas, beauty, inspiration, joy and encouragement!

Come and play house with us.

Class begins October 22.

Registration is now open!

Early registration price is $48 for the next two weeks.

After August 6 the price will go to $58

Week in Review

Happy Friday everyone! This week was a nice and mellow one for me compared to last weeks craziness – planning for the Adoption Day and Finn’s birthday party. We have laid pretty low around here getting caught up on work and cleaning and organizing. Finn’s actual birthday was Tuesday, and just he and I spent the day together, as Josh had to work. We didn’t do anything exciting (unless you count going to the doctor for shots exciting). Poor guy, I made him go to his one year check up on his actual birthday. :(

I did give him his first peanut butter sandwich in honor of the one year milestone, and he LOVED it. But even more, he LOVED sharing it with Hannah… (what a mess!)

Hannah can just hear the word peanut butter and she will smack her lips like she is thirsty… (not kidding) it’s pretty funny.

Other happenings:

My friend Maria, of Dreamy Whites has a pretty amazing giveaway happening now… she interviewed me for the blog, and is giving away a $600 gift certificate to my shop. You can use it on ANYTHING you choose. Design work or merchandise, and in either of my shops, Etsy or this shop. Please go enter if you haven’t already, there is still time a little time left.       Enter Here

I’ve really enjoyed reading through the comments all week. They make me feel pretty great and have certainly helped to boost my confidence a little. I’ve been feeling pretty uninspired lately. My friend Kimberly, wrote a post yesterday that is so in tune with how I have been feeling lately. I think I need to perk up and find the “happy” in more things.

I did shower and get dressed today, which I must admit has lifted my spirits tremendously. :) Especially because I have a new shirt to wear. (You have to love the Gap and the constant sales they have!). Isn’t crazy how a new $17 blouse can have that much of an effect on your mood?

Next week I have something exciting to share. Monday in fact. I am so pumped to be a part of it, and I am so scared at the same time. It’s something I have never done before, so I am really challenging myself to step up and be creative, and at the same time share more of myself than I have before. I am totally a hermit, antisocial homebody, so I can’t even tell you how challenging some things are for me.

Stay tuned, and check back Monday! I hope it’s something you’ll all join me for….
